As the title suggests, I fell through the world when I dug down. I doubt this is intended, so I'm posting it as a bug.

Screenshots and logs please.

I've tested this just now on the KillMeNow seed at coordinates: -1693.6, 64.0, -3799.5 and digging straight down. Log file doesn't create any errors.

I have seen a number of such reports on Steam as well.

Here is a screenshot, I hit godmode to prevent falling too far once I went through:

For the record, I've reproduced this in wasteland_hub and forest biomes. No other biomes tested.

Be careful when mining beneath water. There is NO BEDROCK underneath natural water blocks. Instead you get a blackhole that looks like something out of the Langoliers, and if you fall through it, you'll get stuck in a perpetual freefall of white nothingness. To get out of this you'll have to log out and back in. (Which will put you topsoil, into said water/river/lake.)

One of my buddy's had this happen as well and godmode didnt help him at all. He still floated downward. We all had to log out since he was hosting the game so he could quit and respawn above ground.

If he was crouched when he started falling, then yeah he would keep falling until he uncrouched (or do as you all did, log out and force the spawn).

While mining I fell thru the world when I reached what should of been bedrock was just black space. This issue existed back when they switched from square blocks to diamonds .

I can confirm this from our own server and from a friend on other server. It seems that 100% servers are affected by this. :grumpy:

Confirmed on my side in single player as well. Randomly generated worlds are not randomly generated with bedrock *sigh* Hot fix please!

Just experienced the same in Single Player, Random Gen World. Was wondering when I was going hit bedrock and then I just feel through the floor of world.

Oh ffs, single player too? I was just gonna jump on that... Devs are fully aware of the issue and thought it was fixed in testing. Clearly something has gone wonky. It will be fixed, so be patient :)

Patient!!! Patient!!! Imagine all the worlds that are going to be permanently messed up because they have holes in the bottom :( I gotta say Alpha 9 has made above ground traveling so much more exciting now though!!! I just wish zombies swam upward because they are really messing up my river fort...

Andy, is that related to the bedrock bug, because all you did was post a screenshot with no info. Btw, as a programmer myself, that error code could be caused in any number of places or reasons. All it means is something is trying to use a complex variable (object), and the "object" either hasn't been created yet, or it has been removed. I can tell you that the dev will not know what to look for without you giving more info.

Same, no screen shots as it was my Boyfriend who fell not me, digging through Stone on top of a hill in a forest Biome.

I've found this is due to metal spawning in the bedrock. when blasting, or even mining, it causes holes in the bedrock, layer, and you can fall through. You can also close the hole with stone.

TIP: if you ever fall down in the void, only quit then rejoin your game you should respawn at the surface.

Same thing happened to me and i was not crouched

Knowing this bug existed beforehand I digged down 3x1 hole so I wouldn't fall but now I have another question:

Can anybody confirm how this affects SI of structures? I was planning on using this as an magical trench right to the void like:

SSSSS
SVVVS
SVBVS
SVVVS
SSSSS
(S stone, V void, B base)

Would it collapse or does "void" under any type of block make it like a real bedrock SI-wise?
Also any data on what happens to mobs/animals when they drop to void?

Got some time so I made this and answered my own question:

http://imgur.com/a/XS8K8

Seed/World name: random
Loc: see map on the second ss

Bottom line of concrete is sitting there without problem, top line would collapse if I'd place another block so I guess "void" acts like a valid support but probably more testing would be needed
Also note that I've found a vein of real bedrock (on the right in first screenshot)

PS: somehow I couldn't find the edit button for my post above if someone could merge them it would be nice, thanks :)

There is no bed rock anywhere. Langoliers ate it from everywhere
