View Full Version : Building Project - World Trade Center

01-29-2014, 04:06 AM

I myself am a greater fan of survival and gathering all materials yourself, but a friend decided to test some of the limits with his crew and bring some of his bigger Minecraft creations into 7 Days to die and deal with the challenges of building physics and block weight.

I was rather impressed with his starting point, and look forward to upcoming changes as he works on them.

Looks like a great start.
One question, how far up and down can you build?

good question, i havent tested it yet. even in minecraft you could not reach the true hight,i think it was 70 floors as real was 109?. so iven been wanting to biuld this in 7 days for a whille but in creater map and as this update is not out yet i couldn't wait :).As i have a word trade biuld in mine craft already but so do a lot of peaple aswell ,so i wanted to be the first in 7 days.

could only imagine the server load demolishing a building that size would cause!

Let us know if you get a vertices glitch... (reason why I was forced to stop my project during Alpha 3 and 4)

To put in my 2c worth, I've mined down about 60 blocks before hitting the hard base. In regards to height, I haven't tried to see how high I could go, but I did find that at a certain height, I'm guessing gravity starts to weigh down on the blocks and they don't always stick to the ones around it when trying to build open expanses like the floors for each level - and I found this with any block type. The only way I found around this was to fill the open areas underneath, with something easily destroyable like dirt, and then build your floor and knock out the dirt after. But it always had to be at least 2 blocks thick for them to stay in place and be able to walk on them after. With a project as big as yours, I would assume doing that would be hugely time consuming effort.

If they haven't changed the height limit yet (I doubt they would), then it's 190 blocks high. Though depending on how many blocks / items are used in the construction area... (aka if you do like me and make a skyscraper with well lit floors every 4 blocks height and support pillars everywhere, etc... then you might run into problems once you reach 60 blocks height like I did.

Update 1

How many ppl do you have working on it?

Assuming no cheats, no breaking the bedrock bottom of the map, no going to the outer edge and building right above the death level, etc. Just a straight dig to bedrock and start building up from there.
Assuming a stackable material that can be built from the ground up to the max height.
Using 'lp' in the console to check you position you can build from Z 2.0 to Z 249.0 or Z 250.0.
However, as I mention in this post (http://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?3286-Alpha-6-1-Bugs-Errors-and-More!-%28Updated-regularly-feel-free-to-post-%29&p=27958&viewfull=1#post27958) at the very top, the blocks one place can be walked into, and basically no longer act correctly.

That climb was done on a 2x1x250 (or 251) build mix of dirt and reinforced concrete as a test.

Hopefully you can go high enough, is this built legit or with use of the "Z" key?

Of course it's with creative mode. And without zombies too.

Basically minecraft.
