I enjoy using Valmars Mods that he creates. So I turned them into sdx compatible.

There still a couple of your mods i dont think i would be able to change to sdx unfort. Hopefully tho my little brain can click with all these diff xpath and append things lol to get em in

Do these add any new models, textures, or animations or just a way to have them on the sdx list? Like I could see the animal snares one with an actual animal snare model would be really cool.

If you have tried valmars mods out they're exactly like that. No new animations or like the drawbridge. Fishing etc.

You can use as many as you want but when your blocks reach 2047 thats it

and as for the different xpath stuff, Pacco once posted something useful, that might be helpful:

This may be a dumb question but here goes. If I mod all my xmls and have workstations and new items and stuff, do I have to convert every change I've done to the vannila files over to sdx? Could I just have those XML changes in and point sdx to that modded version of the game or does sdx require the vannila version to run?
Hope u can understand what I'm asking here, sorry I'm not great at getting my thoughts out correctly.

You have to get your modded files into the sdx mod config.xml but that's not that hard. If you take s look at the mods allready out for sdx you'll see what to do.....

Yes I got frustrated the first time i used sd2dx (Now SDX6.0) back in a12 everytime i reverted to vanilla i had to re insert my other mods that were not sd2dx compatible. That was until The sdx team mentioned the backup folder. Was a blessing and made things so much easier. We all have dom to thank for this great tool :-)

This is Awesome, I am stoked someone went through to set this up. I am, trying to use all of these (I noted someone above said only one between the starter class or starter gear so I used only one at a time) ... but I cannot get the starter class or the starter gear ones to work.

Starter Class - Loads in just fine, in game I have the clipboard, I craft a class (usually rifleman) get the suitcase and place it on the ground. Right click the suitcase with the key and get an red error message about the item not being associated with an instance of something or other. Craft an axe and break the suitcase (which is supposed to work in normal ValMod but I have never tried) and it just breaks giving me nothing.

Starter Gear - Loads up just fine, I see a backpack in my inv that says it is locked. Place it on the ground and it gives me a red error message similar to above. Try to break it (it only has 5 HP so 5 punches) and with what should be the last punch it is restored to full5 HPO again. Stuck in that circle.

As far as I can tell the other ones are all working. I have not yet tried to load ONLY one or the other (I am always loading other mods in with it ... mostly posting to see if anyone else is having the same problem before I start tinkering around with it to see if it is one of the other SDX mods messing it up).

Its possible I have an item in loot that doesn't exist in the game anymore and I never caught it. I'll go check them out to be sure everythings good.

Edit: Got distracted by something and Stallion beat me to the punch. Good on ya. Thank you. Hopefully the errors are resolved now.

Having done troubleshooting work before I felt bad for my last entry here ... soooooo

I started with a clean install of 7D2D. From there I followed the installation instructions for SDX, including clicking "build" once before adding any mods in. Then I added in ONLY the SDX version of the Valmar Starter Class System. Did the same thing for a local dedicated server. Connected to the server with my modified client. My inventory included the clipboard for class selection and the key to unlock. I chose the rifleman class and received the suitcase for it. Placed the suitcase on the ground and right clicked the suitcase with the key. Upon doing so I received the following red error message "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

As I stated this is with ONLY using SDX and the SDX version of the Start Class System.

I hope the more specifics and the fact that I limited my experience to the bare requirements without any other mods helps.

EDITED: I went into creative mode and grabbed an unlocked rifleman suitcase, the game will not let me place it in the world. Every time I try to place one I get the same null reference error as when I try to unlock the locked one. Just for testing, same things occur with the hunter option (locked one wont unlock with key and unlocked one wont place in world, same error message).

Buffed Air Drops isn't working.

O.P updated. There was a item in there that wasnt vanilla 9mmbulletHP. Removed that should work now as it does for me :-).

You click on the paper select recipe then pick which class you wany to have. If playing sp grab the rest from the creative menu.

There is another person who did it deccypher is the 1 I did to sdx. Havent seen vals zombie bag one. But if you go to the sticky sdx tool tut and mods in the mods section look for deccypher bag drop mod meets sdx

I read the main forum for SDX and still have no clue what this SDX thing is or what it's about. I've been seeing a lot of mods coming up that require it though, including all of the ones here. I play Valmods combined mod and maybe someone here will know, can I add SDX mods (really interested in the military and police vehicles and the fishing one) to the Valmod with no problems? Is there any benefit to using some of the ones here over the Valmod?

ok thats simple.

after you have set up sdx 6.0 (make sure to make a copy of your current config files in common/7 days to die/data/config)

open up the sdx 6.0 folder select the 3 mods already prepackaged in the tool and build

then open up the sdx 6.0 (if not open already) and you will see a backup folder. Open the back up folder then open data then make a back up of that config folder (In back ups is ok)

then simply copy your previously modded valmod config folder into the back up folder/data

this simply tells sdx that that is the default files for the game and it will use those files every time you revert/build and add onto it.

Now rememeber to check the blocks ids and not to go over 2047. a way to do this is to go thru each mod for sdx and add the numbers that are in the blocks folder that are free/spar, remembering that some sdx mods have block ids already.

If you use the SDX versions of Valmar mods, it should work with no problems at all... If you use XML Valmar mods, you may have some problems with icons, but solvable...

I doubt it. The "modular" mods are easy to convert to SDX because it's very apparent what they change, and in most cases, Valmar himself has provided the raw changes that need to be made to the XML files in the posts about the mods.

The overhaul makes tons of changes throughout all the files, and there's little to no raw code out there...which means that in order to turn it into an SDX mod, whomever is doing the conversion is going to have to pick through the entire set of data with a fine toothed comb and make all the appropriate changes. There might be someone with enough free time and drive to do that, but I seriously doubt it.

The easiest way to attempt to use the overhaul/expansion with SDX is to use them as your starting data (the files in your SDX/Backup/ folder...and even that isn't perfect (block limits tend to be reached super quickly as Valmod adds a lot of blocks, and duplicate IDs happen).

The easiest way to attempt to use the overhaul/expansion with SDX is to use them as your starting data (the files in your SDX/Backup/ folder...and even that isn't perfect (block limits tend to be reached super quickly as Valmod adds a lot of blocks, and duplicate IDs happen).

Thanks, these instructions got both the Valmod expansion and some of my SDX mods compatible!

ok thats simple.

after you have set up sdx 6.0 (make sure to make a copy of your current config files in common/7 days to die/data/config)

open up the sdx 6.0 folder select the 3 mods already prepackaged in the tool and build

then open up the sdx 6.0 (if not open already) and you will see a backup folder. Open the back up folder then open data then make a back up of that config folder (In back ups is ok)

then simply copy your previously modded valmod config folder into the back up folder/data

this simply tells sdx that that is the default files for the game and it will use those files every time you revert/build and add onto it.

Now rememeber to check the blocks ids and not to go over 2047. a way to do this is to go thru each mod for sdx and add the numbers that are in the blocks folder that are free/spar, remembering that some sdx mods have block ids already.

So, Now that I have both of the XML mods and the SDX mods compatible, how do I tell the game where to look for the missing icons?

If you use the SDX versions of Valmar mods, it should work with no problems at all... If you use XML Valmar mods, you may have some problems with icons, but solvable...

Add all icons to the sdx folder. Inside a sdx mod folder there should be a icon folder place all icons in there.

I doubt it. The "modular" mods are easy to convert to SDX because it's very apparent what they change, and in most cases, Valmar himself has provided the raw changes that need to be made to the XML files in the posts about the mods.

The overhaul makes tons of changes throughout all the files, and there's little to no raw code out there...which means that in order to turn it into an SDX mod, whomever is doing the conversion is going to have to pick through the entire set of data with a fine toothed comb and make all the appropriate changes. There might be someone with enough free time and drive to do that, but I seriously doubt it.

Somewhat lol. I did it cause it saved me having to manually edit the files to use vals great mods with other great sdx mods so yes pretty much.
