View Full Version : Can somebody help me with exporting prefabs? Airport + hq-building, screens inside

I've built an airport (@250N-1150E), a headquarter for intel (@150N-850E) and an Octagon (@500N-600E), and when i posted the hq and the airport on reddit, i was told the modding community would appreciate my work as prefabs, so hello!

Hals export thingy looks great, but tbh, i don't really get to a point where i'd effectively get a prefab of the entire area without messing up foundations (the runway starts in the main buildings first floor, there is a tunnel under the runway i dont want to lose.. its tough without any experience).

the airport (highest priority) http://imgur.com/a/WAzp1 (ugly lights have been fixed http://imgur.com/a/zMBwl i don't know how to keep added lights though (added via debugmenue, gone on client-restart))

enjoy watching! i performed like complete garbage when i tried working this out with hal's thing, probably because i try to do something too big without expertise. maybe you can/would help? maybe you just want to walk the savegame? (can you, even, with player-profiles on singleplayer-games?)

Give me just a few hours to save these nice buildings as regular Prefabs.

I will post them here right back when iam finished with my current work here (perhaps today!?)

Ohhhhh very nicely done. Yes mags awesome. And science very nice prefabs def mags compo pack is great it will also find its way to the mega city hehe which uses the compo pack as without it well it jusy be city :-). And mags i am timing you you have 45 more min hehe lol :-P

Ps: science prefabs are def welcome the more the better variety

I have exported the 3 POI-areas to spawnable Prefabs. They are trimmed in x,y and z sizes so everything importent should be inside ;)

But I have also found 3 other HomeBase-like POI's - and I simply exported them too.

So here in this pack are now 6 Prefabs (airport,octagon,hq, and the 3 other bases around them)

Please take in mind - these Prefabs are not finished fully. Some little things must be done. Like smoothening the borders and set y-0ffset.
They also dont have a regular .xml atm (for spawning in rwg). And I dont made a Spawning-test atm. But in editor they look good ;)

I will finish the work on them these days. Then I post the endresult here again.

you are insane! thank you! the three other bases are presumably a research facility (4 greenhouses on concrete with a building), a little lakehouse and my 7th-day area.

btw, the part i consider tricky with the airport is the tunnel from red helipad to vip-sec ground level (and the hatch at the end of the runway connected to the same area) - if you get that done, its perfect!

and of course you have the permission! that'd be great!

Of course! Don't be too hyped tho, the lakehouse is very small (not really worth the pic) and the anti-day7 area is.. well - spikes and steel to walk on

And thank you, Volar! I'm already working on something bigger. The foundation for the building is 114*76 - 6498 squareblocks and i want to go min 3 stories high. Nuff said :)

now i feel stupid, i was in that thread already, but i don't know which exact config folder the stuff is meant to be pasted in.

want a little spoiler? in the last two days i went fully ham on my newest project, a modern seat of government.
unlike the airport, this one is going to be full-size though - it took me one day just to get the foundation done, and filling the in-house-floortiles on the legit foundation still took ages - i mean it, ages! currently i work on the roof, after that the really disgusting parts are done :)

looking good - another Bigazz-building ;) - u r a very good creator

I love all Prefabs. But to increase quantity AND Quality of the CP I need more smaller housings.

Iam looking especially for normal-sized POI's (45 by 45 blocks max).

could u make such one next ??? - that would be amazing ;)

me confuses only one :D
The buildings are located at the beginning of the runway. I wouldn't want to land here.
and pilot Curtis too, he had problems with accuracy :)

perhaps it would be better to make two prefabs. One with runway strip and other - with buildings.

thx mag! sure i can go for some 45ēs, i have a savegame of the bigass foundation now, so i can just start building houses of any size <115*76 without having to go for endless blocks on wild terrain anymore. if i can import prefabs into my sp-game i'll even still have the finished building in my savegame (just for having it), i really need to figure this import/export thing out

i think i'll need another 2-3 days with the SOG, after i post the release-ready savegame i'll go for smaller squares, 1-4 stories.

if you would like to see anything specific, just tell me! after the mega-builds i'm out of stuff to go for (honestly i didnt consider to go bigger than the airport at any given time until this prefab-thing, its so amazing to be able to share the builds!), so if i can help with the "credibility" of the city/cp, just tell me what you need :)

n2n1 thanks, and well - somebody on reddit said the same. the basic problem is: i had to downsize *massively*, and i didnt want an airport-building as long as the runway, so i went with "the plane has to stand still at some point anyways, its gonna be the yellow line". now the architecture makes it kinda difficult to find a good cut, as the mainhall (ground level) goes all the way to the end of vip-sec, the area at the runways end. its bugging me a lot.
suggestions?

Argh lol my apologies. rwgmixer biomes and materials.xml goes into the data/config folder. prefabs folder open select all and paste into the game prefab folder overwrite when asked. do not just delete prefab folder and put that 1 in

I'm not strong some of the prefabs & RWG-modding, but Magoli and Stallionsden might understand what I'm saying, if the translator won't fail.

The idea is to create airport infrastructure how are Hub (cities, town).

Not make one big prefab - everything is divided into separate parts.
- the rule - a small town.
- at least one runway.
- And add the rest of the building infrastructure.

In RWG when you spawn a city for him - cleared flat area. Just like for a real runway!
In addition, it solve the problem with the relief for the runway!
In the cells will runway, tower, hall, office and so on.

It is not necessary to create a lot of prefab. Even from what you already have, you can make the airport.
Let many cells will be blank - this is normal for airports. The road between the cells will remind taxiing.

PS: the runway lights in the night look fantastic...
It's possible that would be prefab with a Runway cut off a few cells ?

PPS: the building of the - defense complex "2016" - looks stunning, the light in the windows is very beautiful. You know how to do screenshots !

update on the new project:

i found out that adobewhite doesnt hold ♥♥♥♥ the hard way -> tilt -> old palace-design cancelled, restart on clean foundation.

over the day i talked to a steam-friend i played 7d with for some time over a year ago. i knew he was ill, but his docs say that he might not have much time left.
after the shock i realized, that i now actually have a reason to build the best palace this game ever saw. this is the start of whats dedicated to him:

the palace' central hall will have glassfloor and his nickname under that. the complex will be the most glorious ♥♥♥♥ing piece of blocks that this game has ever seen. i want literally everyone who sees it being mind-blown, to walk through the halls, to stand there and to think "wow". this "wow" will be his, not mine, because i will really never build anything with the amount of dedication i feel right now again.

we share no common acquaintances, the only thing that connects is our time in 7d - this is where we had fun together, this is a game he loves, this is where i can and want to honor him.

therefore, it might take a while longer.


thank you very much stal, now i was finally there. great stuff, can't wait to be part of it!
