View Full Version : Trading Outpost - No Trader Protect Required!

This is a prefab of a working Trading Post [Trader Joel].
It's for those wanting to insert a Trader but not have to mess with "Trader Area Protect".

It's got some decorative stuff as well, but mostly it's functional.

http://i.imgur.com/zVOipht.png <-- Click here to see

It works because of the 1/8th blocks. The Zeds show up in droves and they can't hit it.

I am currently on Day 89 and this prefab is pretty much in pristine condition.

>>IMPORTANT<<

- It's 34x70 [the longer length being North-South]
Keep that in mind when placing.

- It faces North. For some reason the game sometimes faces Spawned-in Traders North for no good reason.
This prefab takes that into account.
Keep that in mind when placing, also.

Download it Here ---> https://www.dropbox.com/s/5chra8hp74ngtl4/LuckyTrade.rar?dl=0

Enjoy!

** PS: Yes I know my picture cropping sucks in this post but I have to walk my dog and wanted to get this out quick.
Gimme a break! >.<

If you download this, please post here.

I welcome your input.

That's how I know whether to fix things.

Cheers,

Do you like to decorate? I hate it... Least favorite thing to do. Hell, my oil rig is bare. :)

Anyway, is the ramp thing the only way in?

Yeah you can drive your bike right up.
[If you want to tour the interior, use the catwalk and go in through the back.
The front door is locked.]

The ramp is basically the same design I use for my base.
Works great as a shooting platform and an entrance.

And yes, I love decorating things. I find adding all the little details makes a build much more enjoyable.

That's not for everyone, as you stated.

Hey, that's cool, that worked... Emoticons from a phone...

Yeah post a DL link and I'll check out your Rig.

I suppose lots of machinery and workstations.... some washrooms.... lunch room.. change room... telecoms....barracks...

Yeah I can see it in my head already.

Not at all. This thread wasn't getting any attention so it helps.

Okay so if I decorate the desert one, will you be able to port it over to the lake?
Or would having the lake one decorated be easier?

Alright. I was just worried that pasting onto the water one might cause water glitches.

Wait what? Two instances? How does that work?

Click Prefab twice. :) It'll open up two windows.

Oh that is so cool. I never knew it could do that.

I am going to have a really fun weekend making prefabs!

I'll decorate your Rig Friday night first thing.
Have so much work to do this week I'm up to my eyeballs in it. [Yes I know I should be working, not in forums.]

That's a really cool trick. Didn't even know about the Alt+left click thing.
Sometimes you can't just copy multiple layers. It's helpful to have a marker.

Thanks.

Okay it's done.

Here's the Link

https://www.dropbox.com/s/1rxnbqyvrs0yen3/OilRigDecorated.rar?dl=0

Couple notes:

- There's no staircase from bottom floor to second.

- You'll notice I turned off a lot of lights. [Like... a lot].
Adds to the ambience [plus too many lights lags the crap out of many computers.]
Your streetlights are all still on. Maybe turn a few off? Up to you.

- The decals on the catwalks don't show up. It's one of the drawbacks of using large numbers of them.
I think it's fine, but you can decide.

- It's moderate loot. If you want sparse or heavy loot it's going to need adjusting.

Your Rig now includes:
- Quartermaster's Room + Storage
- Small Workshop
- Several Washrooms.
- Maintenance Room
- More Storage.
- Lots of dead bodies [mostly decals, not loot.... don't want to overloot, ruins the prefab]
- Kitchen with Dishpit.
- Cafeteria.
- Barracks.
- Small Rec room.
- Showers.
- Lockers/Storage.
- Updated Control Room.
- Medic's Office.

Hope you like it.

Cheers,

~ Lucky

What are they building?

Guppycur
01-14-2017, 09:47 PM
Arrow slits, minibike storage...

...no, having them install a French door where an opening was, laying tile in a bathroom, turning a halfwall into a custom shelving unit, and fix my drywall patch and crown install attempts.

...and now that I've "supervised" I'm a lot closer to doing that crap myself next time. Especially the drywall and tile.

I suck at cuts, so any more crown work will be done professionally. I did a good job on the end caps though.

Yeah it's funny. I think there's an assumption that Men are naturally supposed to be good at carpentry.

I can figure out the how, it's just the execution, which I assume comes with practice. Homie was handling the little hand held miniature circle saw like it was his best friend, whereas I would have chopped into my thigh.

I don't know if you watch The Walking Dead, but Tryp's mom has an annoying history of using the worst ringtones ever. Her new one is Easy Street, which was the song that was playing over and over in the one episode about Darryl being held by Negan. I have flat out refused to go to her house or even meet her in public until she changes it.

I disagree with his philosphy, politics and over-all psychopathic tendencies, but I love him as a character. Watchmen is such a good read, and now with the upcoming thing with Batman and Flash, maybe he'll be back.

I never read the series but I saw the movie and I was really intrigued by the characters.
In fact the whole thing was surprising to me.

Even as a small child, I never agreed with the idea of the good guys never killing the bad guys.
I remember thinking [at 7 years old] all the people who got hurt that could have been avoided if they'd just kill the bad guys.

I get why comics tend to go that way, but I never bit the hook.
Just didn't seem realistic to me.

If you had a real life super hero, they would be a lot more like the Watchmen. Probably even worse. Anti-Heroes I guess.

Like Dexter! He's freaking awesome!

The series is amazing. Not only one of the best graphic novels ever, but one of the best novels ever. Very compelling characters and writing. It's dark and adult themed, takes place in 85 at the height of the Cold War.

I loved Dexter, till the last episode.
