Can anyone explain how to simply edit the standard rwgmixer file to get more towns on the map? without changing anything else?

this rule is towards the top of the rwgmixer.xml look for "vanilla" though not "tinsRules"

Adjust the highlighted value down by a few 100 how low you can go will be determined by your rigs capabilities (also wouldn't suggest going lower than your biggest hubs size). this will increase cell counts which also determin how many hubs can be placed. more cells more hubs (depending on the seeds terrain of course).

there are a lot of thing you can do but this is the simplest.
