This are Dekoration Prefabs, defined in the Biomes XML.
* They have no Sleepers
* They have no Lod Models (Farsight)
* They dont trim the Surface (means they can only spawn on smooth ground)
-* Because of that they need to be so small as Possible

During my work on the POI prefabs i understand that placing Sleepers so that you have no/less Ninjaspawns need a decent sized Prefab. So i decided to make no POI Prefabs smaller as 31x31. Resulting from that i decided to make additional Deko Prefabs. These are much harder to balance in their rarity and they have the above mentioned Drawbacks, but i think they are perfect to make the wilderness more interesting. The good is that this way there is no longer the need to make Wilderness Poi´s defined in the RWGmixer.xml so common that the surface trimming destroy the landscape.

They are part of my small Mod set and will blend in perfectly (when the other parts are done)
* My Poi Prefab set (https://7daystodie.com/forums/showthread.php?76349-MOD-Prefab-Set-Royals-poi-prefab-set) [WIP] need so not longer to care about Water, availability of special Containers and small Spots.
* My Mod can reduce Lakes and Rivers without making it to scarce (Like in real you can now find Water everywhere, but you need to search a bit)

Here the Download
Looks like the biomes xml work in 16.2 16.3 and the actuall 16.4 B2 Experimental
(The 16.2 File has not changed by switching the versions and validate files)

A16.4 Stable Biomes.xml

Outdated versions

16.4 Experimental B8 Biomes.xml
(The blue button)

I would like some feedback
* Rarity of this Deko Pois
* Loot Balance
* Fitting grafically

Sure if you have bugs i want to know that too, but i dont expect them.

Dont expect to many of them on the map, in my opinion they are really rare. But the rarity is something we can change if sensefull. (or make different Biomes XML versions)

Steam Thread (Dont want to search it all times)

A thought I had about the waterholes: have you tested if you can drive over them with a minibike? If they are bike-traps, making them very frequent would be a bit hazardous.

Regarding the bases, I like those that have walls made of materials that fit into a wilderness environment best, so wood, flagstone and cobblestone (camo-netting would also be cool) - in my opinion, the red brick and concrete fit better into towns/cities. But, there is at least 1 brick block (in the light/white-ish set) that actually looks ruined, it has holes - using those bricks would look good I think. I'll make a screenshot and edit it in so you can see which set I mean.

ETA: ok had a quick look but couldn't find that white brick set in the devblocks, it's used for some of those brick store vanilla POIs and others. But the red set also has destroyed blocks - using these on the upper rows would make the brick POIs fit into the environment much better:

The Waterholes should be no problem for moving Minibikes. (The Ponds maybe)

The Blocks from the fortifications...
I decided to use no Paint at all for the Prefabs until now to hold it more "Basic".
2/3 of the Time i spend into that Prefabs was allready bugfixing thanks to the damn water blocks.

But if there are no complains about problems its a good alteration.

Great idea royal. This should add some more interesting wilderness pois or biome decorations.

I really like almost all of them.
3 things though:
* What's the difference between you car POI and vanilla's?
*The first POI of "Stuff", showed in the screenshot donesn't look believable
*What's inside the "Rocks" POI?

* What's the difference between you car POI and vanilla's?
Car Pois have some small stuff with them as crates a small tent, a cooking pot, a bedroll ... Not really special, but because of Rarity and low loot it should be no disturbance, only some things i would expect in the wilderness

*The first POI of "Stuff", showed in the screenshot donesn't look believable
I thought the same about this one Stuff poi, but i tink its one of this "when reality looks wrong", imagine a moving van or a House full of Furniture but bad for a other reason. And a Survivor (family) taking all this stuff and preparing a Simply Defense for the night. That exactly was in my mind as i build it. Someone without ressources to build, instead a simply defense only by furniture. The part that make it hard to believe is because we have no decent large Vehicles in the game until now.

*What's inside the "Rocks" POI?
from nothing up to a small bunker

If the Furniture Defense is to anoying you can
(This poi is 69, and 67 is the maybe not your taste too (its a sofa Defense ^^. But much more simple
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198321326453/screenshot/877499436576042565 ))
* Remove it from the Biomes XML
* Delete both XMLs, copy 2 other XML´s and rename them to 69 and maybe 67

If others share this meaning we can switch that Poi. But for the moment i would like more feedback to have a decent idea for version 2.0

And thank you for your feedback

if you've ever lived in a city and seen some of the "nests" the homeless makes, the "stuff" poi reminds me of that, and is actually fairly realistic, if rare.

Something occurred to me about the base POIs: some of them don't quite make sense - if you build only a quick overnight camp, with only walls and no roof, why would you start a farm for food and chickens? You're gone the next morning. And if you plan to stay longer, surely you'd make your camp a bit bigger and at least add a roof? So in the walls-only bases (that don't have small "bunkers" underneath), imo there shouldn't be any farm crops or more than a random, wild nest.

@ owl i answer later, i want to let this consideration cook in my brain first

10-19-2017, 02:25 AM
every game is a little different, but there have been quite a few for me where i put up walls to hide behind, the first few days, that's all you need while you scavenge out an area, and throw down seeds you got. sometimes i wind up staying relatively nearby and come back for the harvest.. sometimes not, maybe in this case it's just abandoned...

10-19-2017, 04:50 PM
Yes but that's in-game, player-only behaviour, not what someone actually in a zombie world would do. Finding something like that makes it obvious that you're in a game. For singleplayer-only people like myself, stuff like that doesn't add to immersion, but breaks it a little.

I think in a real world if i find a place with good soil and a small compound i would build me such a small protected farm (thinking that Zombies can infect my crops)
And i would build it a bit away from my base (or place my base a bit away) if it is too good seeable.

But your meaning is noticed, when i make version 2.0 i try to let it effect the Prefabs. Until now no idea how, but i try. And it looks like there will be some time until then.

These are really cool Royal. I like the dumpping grounds, ponds, rocks and hidden crates the best... the ice pond is WAY cool... always wonderd why there was ice in the blocks.xml, but Ive never seen it in game. Maybe Navezgane but Ive only ever played Nav like once... Random Gen all the way fer me.

Seeing your work here has got my creative juices flowing and now that I kindda have a feel for SDTD and Philles editors Im gonna crank away at creating some stuff... Me thinks blast craters from Army shelling and some more terrain feature would fit in well with the world Ive been creating through RWGmixer and Biomes XML's

These are quite awesome Royal. Is there any chance you have screenies of what each prefab looks like. I want to fine tune my biomes xml and wanted to check each and see what I can expect. There are SO many. I can just spawn each one in I guess, but I wanted to check with you first and make sure you didn't have a folder laying around or something.

Great work. Makes the world feel alive. We need more of stuff like this.

This time i made no complete list, inside their groups the Prefabs look comparable.
I made not screenshots of all to spoiler so less as possible

This here is my list i used to make the prefabs, the edited (mostly damaged versions) are not in this list

Nice mod. I always thought that game was in need of mini prefabs. Love pond idea.
Can you randomise dump area? I mean what furniture will it have. Dump area has lot of potential. People like collecting trash + z-apocalypse=no one cares where to throw theirs trash.
