    Alpha 17 Experimental B240 bug reporting thread

    We don’t want incompatibility bugs with previous builds so please remember to start a new game with each experimental update.



    Hey Survivalist,
    We’ve just released Alpha 17 Experimental B240 and could really use your help finding the last remaining big issues.
    If you’ve played B238 or other builds from our previous experimental posts see the fixes below for more info.



    As always TFP is interested in all constructive criticism and feedback, but what we're really looking for in this thread are the following:
    • Show stopping game play bugs (Hopefully with reproduction steps)
    • Crashes (Try and get reproduction steps and post your output_log.txt files - usually found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\7 Days To Die\7DaysToDie_Data\output_log.txt - directly in your forum post. Note: You will find all output_logs time stamped there, even from old games. You can also attach your zipped up crash dump file too.)
    • Chunk Generation Bugs. People please give us the coordinates of where they were in the world when they run into a chunk generation error plus the game seed. Copy and pasting the error alone and the output log is not sufficient to help with a fix.

    Additionally, you can post balance and feedback in the current Dev diary.

    Here's how to opt in and play the latest experimental branch.

    Open your steam client.
    1. Click on Games/View Games Library
    2. Right click ‘7 Days to Die’ and select properties
    3. From the new popup dialogue box select the ‘BETAS’ Tab
    4. Under ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into’ latest_experimental

    The game will then update and download the latest experimental build Alpha 17 Experimental

    Switching back to the latest main stable build is as easy as repeating steps 1-4 and on step 4 choose the option ‘None – Opt out of all Beta Programs’ and you’ll revert to the latest stable build.

    Press F1 to open the console, then type dbs
    This will open a panel in game for you to type the bug in.
    once done click ok
    there will then be a SCREENSHOTS folder in the main 7 days folder.

    your output log files are in C /steamLibrary/steamapps/common/7Daystodie/7daystodiedata/ you will find a list of ol logs, the last one being the most recent.

    also when taking a screen shot you can use the debug info, go into dm mode ( Type dm in the console ) Type dm to turn it off again
    Press F3, that will bring up the debug overlay, you will need to press f3 twice to close it.
    If you use the f3 feature no need for cords in the screen shot as they are in that info.

    Fixes:
    • StackOverFlowException: Using assigned previous and next category keybinds in cm
    • 2 bridges in navezgane wasteland collapse when walking over them
    • RWG possibly gens without a trader
    • F7 mode kills UI interaction
    • Cave_02's incorrect Navezgane spawn and gap around the POI itself




    Known issues:

    • In some scenarios double swing may still occur
    • Tool damage localization is different than actual value
    • RWG: Floating POIs (Minimal occurrence now)
    • Trader Jen has a deep voice
    • Ammo count of nail gun goes broke, when equipped with full auto receiver
    • Trader Rekt is nicer than usual
    • Some achievements can not be obtained at the moment
    • Charismatic Nature is still in need of improvement, buff works for 5 seconds and 5 seconds it does not
    • Scrapping items in crafting queue while re-logging may go lost
    • Re-logging when crafting usable items are in the crafting queue may have negative side effects
    • Crafting speed bonus does not properly apply to workstations
    • Clipping into blocks to see through terrain
    • Vultures play their fly animation when dead for clients
    • Shotgun driver loses sound on 4x4 after a while
    • Workstation tools do not refresh the recipe list when the tools are installed
    • Can use torch and flaming arrows as light underwater
    • Hitting ESC while generating a map preview will blank screen. Must use CTRL, ALT, DEL to exit game.
    • RWG preview tool localization
    • Firearms do a duplicate reload animation after reloading while zoomed (locked in zoom)
    • Mining helmet light doesn't show for other players
    • Client molotovs thrown down from an edge not working as good as Host
    • Hatches don't always open on the first try
    • Player model jumps forward of the player camera when accessing an auto turret inventory
    • Turrets will not target self when set to do so
    • LCB icon is still shown when LCB has been destroyed by another player
    • Player can consume any consumable while mounted in vehicle but will not get the buff/debuff
    • Flames don't move with zombie ragdolls
    • Resolution does not always save when >1080p options are available
    • Burning shaft mod flame effect can transfer to other items on the toolbelt
    • Healing other players with RMB doesn't work
    • Self medicated is not working properly. Not being able to purchase perk is intended.
    • Debuffs on respawn
    • Crashes on Mac
    • If connection to server fails, try removing steamnetworking as a disabled function from the serverconfig.xml
    • White lines may occur on imposter POIs

    Since alpha 17 began on experimental

    Bug Description: There's a lag/shake/rumble on the character when it moves that translates in lack of smoothness even though it's running at 70+fps, I went back to Alpha 15 and 16 and it wasn't there.

    Reproduce steps: Go into any game mode, look 45 degrees downwards and walk on a road or grass and you'll notice the stutter, also happens when moving sideways and/or around an entity or object, so basically moving.

    asking a simple question here.... would you happen to have Motion Blur on because that is a side effect of that too. can you provide a video showing this? screen shot of video settings a plus as well.

    The FoV can be modified in AppData > Roaming >7DaysToDie > useroptions.ini or something like that. The microstutter if it's the same issue I'm reporting good luck, I still have no answer whatsoever. Let's hope we don't have to wait too much. Cheers buddy!

    Bug Description: Cannot run game at all. It worked up to B233 but each experimental since fails. When I run the game it pauses for about 20 seconds and then stops. I only get the splash screen with the anti cheat part before it disappears.

    It looks like a unity error maybe?

    A17 240
    Wiped all my saves.
    Started a new one.
    Going to Editing Tools.
    Creating a Random Gen World.
    Going to world editor.
    Making some changes in the world here an there.
    Going into new game ->RandomWorld that i created and edited -> Nothing has saved. Everything i made in the editor hasn't saved into the actual world.
    Trying to place a prefab , worked . It was saved . But when i am going again in the editor to place a new one again ,same problem with change saving.

    SINCE OF RELEASE OF A17... I like the game i can't say no , but i love more the editor as i can make incredible things.

    Summary: when you get off a vehicle it will sometimes launch you kilometers away. A few times it has launched me way off the playing map.

    I know this isn't the place to ask this and I know this post will likely be deleted, but I was hoping you can give a little insight or transparency on the fix for crafting time bonus not applying on workstations before deleting.

    Is it just proving to be more complex than anticipated?

    Only reason I ask is that I feel this is fairly close to game breaking when you are past the beginning stage of the game :/

    So far, A17 has proven to be amazing and the new progression system is a great rework and still has so much potential! Keep up the amazing work!!!

    New, wiped all yes, Linux (ubuntu 18.04)
    modlets yes (ui, crafting size, and my weapons actually do serious damage)

    1) only 1 cooking pot in the campfire. (boo)
    2) "old chairs" cannot be used as fuel anymore. Wooden chairs, yes.

    Not sure if intended, or 'oops'. didn't see it in the notes. (they did work in 238 for the chairs, the barracks chairs, being metal, did not)

    EDIT: yep, can put more than 1 pot in, but it seems the way you do it is.. funky. almost like the insert location is offset? It wouldn't let me initially drop the Beaker in, but when I was kinda off to the right side of the box for it, it did, so tried the pots, and yep, center no, off a bit to the right and yes.

    Bug Description: A filled can(s) with water stick to hotbar.

    Reproduce steps: Have empty can(s).
    Fill with water.
    Try to remove from hotbar.
    Cannot put into anything (inc inventory) by Shift select or moving.
    (I tried all kinds of things, or different order, etc.)
    You CAN start a campfire and select Boiled Water and it will move to the cooking queue
    Other things seem fine. (although haven't tested much - it is a new game...)
    I keep getting things stook to my toolbelt aswell not just water

    CITRIX did it! Citrix workspace can kill ALL the zombies. This is what has been preventing me from running 7 days since b233 (which just happens to be the day i was working from home and installed citrix)

    #1 is kinda new
    #2 isn't new

    1) i mean this ones obvious. just try it.

    2) if you aim a rocket at dirt, to gaurentee a hit at something you want to hit nearby that point, the rocket just disappears and never explodes. repeating it is intermittent, but if you find a spot that does it, you can repeatedly aim from any position, to that same position and have it constantly miss.
