    Radiation above ground.

I was trying to think of a way of creating a map that forces you to live inside an underground city to give a much tighter enclosed game.

I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to play with the radation to make above ground a radiation zone.
I think heat and cold might already work a bit like this, so wondering if it was possible to tweak for a radiated surface thats still safe below ground.

    Any ideas?

Edit the top terrain blocks (dirt plus biome terrain) to give a rad buff, sink the prefabs in ground, along with the spawn points.

What class of block can give a similar buff ?
This is the one that previously gave only the heat from campfire (ActiveRadiusEffects)? Someone tried to do it already?
hmmm.... it would be great if it works now!

Oh that's right, I forgot that's broken and you can only use vanilla blocks with AOE's... doesn't the walkonblock buff still work? That way it's not an AOE, but you are always walking on them.

Swap the say, first two layers in the biomes.xml file with the radiated version of the blocks, call it a day. =)

Just been playing with this, created 2 blocks terrDestroyedStoneRad and terrASphaltRad
    added <property name="BuffsWhenWalkedOn" value="buffRadiation3"/>
Made the randomgen so it only does wasteland using those blocks.

    And it works :-)

Its not perfect as someone could break through to ground then build frames or clamber on buildings off the radiated ground.

But I don't think you could survive up there for long and it would be pretty pointless.

Going to try with some underground prefabs next and see how it plays out, and if its worth making a subterranean gamemap.

Edit biomes.xml and turn those surface layers to your new block.

Yep, done that with a triple layer, and it works quite well.
Turned out easier than I thought it was going to be to sort out.

That's how most of this is; people think it's daunting, but they just need to jump in.

Just curious how your testing is going with this play style.
