digital stores are mostly operating through a program. there is mostly one digital copy in a compressed locked file waiting for the program to uncompress it make a copy of that copy and send it to you. or it's a 1mb compressed zipped file that gets sent to your account, A.K.A the buyer of said game and then it gets unzipped then uncompressed into the game you are play
And with people pushing for more and more digital downloads over physical media because of the *convenience* factor and the creators and sellers of the content seeing how they can eliminate the secondary market of game re-sellers it simply amazes me how people fail to see the big honking neon purple elephant in the room. With digital only the publishers can charge what they feel like which usually is the full price of the game despite not needing the manufacturing aspect of it. Also with digital versions the publisher/distributor can often remove access to said content on a whim to put out the re-release diamond jubilee platinum version(See Amazon's policy for some scary stuff). I am happy that I have the physical copy of 7D2D as I managed to get it used out of a Gamestop for around $10. Hopefully once TFP gets things sorted out they will continue to put out physical media for the game as if it were a digital download only for the console I'd probably skip it.

This was posted today. I know it doesn't answer questions and doesn't say exactly when but one way or another at some point they will say yes or no.

I played on Xbox for about three years before switching over to Mac (PC) whatever... The main bug on console that made me the most frustrated was the constant crashing. Once the days reached 80+ with a proper base, I spent more time on the loading screen than I did in-game. I switched to the PC version now and I am not looking back. For all of the console players, I suggest you do the same! The game with a mouse and keyboard is 100x better and quicker, and the 17.4 version is way more stable than the console edition. I bashed TFP all the time for not fixing the console version but after doing proper research, it's 99% TellTale's fault. If you guys can fix the constant crashing on console, that would be the first priority imo before releasing new betas.

Yes PC version is way better. Not just because of the updates it gets either it does look and run better. But not everyone has money for a PC. I guess I'm different then you because I enjoy playing both of them PC and console. I know what console is so I don't think about the PC version. Do I play Console version solo well no only with friends that don't have a PC. Will see what TFP do at some point or another.

Its out of TFP control, the game is owned by Telltale Games who went out of business. The only way that TFP can get it back is probably by buying their own game back, which is unlikely to happen because they are going to charge an arm and leg.

You are not up to date. The game was already sold at an auction in April I think. Maybe TFP got it, maybe someone else. Also TFP might not need the whole package, theoretically they could striike a deal with whoever won the auction. Whoever got it, there still seem to be either legal uncertainties to be resolved or unfinished negotiations. And I assume that will be all we will know until TFP is confident to either announce a "yes" or a "no"

I had the CD game that I did not keep, and I wanted to get back to it ... By redeeming it in dematerialized ... But still no update since the closure of TTG .. And still the full price game (35 €) which for my part is overpriced for an abandoned game ... It should end in the category "free games" on the Xbox and PS stores .... I wait a big discount on it to take it back ....

Go to game stores you get it cheaper. Sony and Microsoft will cost full price because it is digital copy. That is on Sony and Microsoft what they charge and if they run a deal to make it free or not.

But as far as abandoned goes yeah it kinda is but as far as we know or being told TFP are still working out legal matters. I'm sure they want this done and over with just as much as people wanting updates. So as of now it really isn't completely abandoned as long as they are still working towards it.

My hope is still High for this game.
But in the mean time iím playing it almost every day, and been doing so for around 3 years. For me and my friends it works perfectly 98% of the time (on ps4). We still have a lot of fun and happy with the current version. That Said we offcourse would love an update with new features and hopefully new ai.

I am really hoping this game is able to survive on the console editions. We had already been waiting for a long time on certain "fixes" that make even casual play of the game very frustrating. The largest of which are the numerous crashes, often followed by entire chunk resets, often-times being in/near bases, or in/near outposts, since it tends to reset around players, and tends to crash on player interaction. Its sad to say that we have become adept at noticing potential crashes and "Save and Quit" before the crash actually applies (it sometimes still resets chunks, and requires a full client restart or it will crash immediately upon loading). Even the updates and new additions would be a decent loss but the error/crash updates are critically required at this point. The last time I played 7DTD on the Xbox, I crashed once every 15 minutes, like clockwork. Add that to the horrendous load times... gameplay was impossible. A long load time is only acceptable if the game never crashes. Its to the point where my maps have 4-5 different bases, with a variety of items spread between 3-4 different buildings in each base. I hate that, I love being organized, but instead I have to split everything up as equally as possible because when a crash hits, I might as well kiss it all goodbye (which could be potentially 4-5 days worth of full 8-hour a day gameplay completely lost).

That being said, I really do adore the game. Its fun, and pleasant, and I love exploring, building, levelling up, etc -- but as I said, it would be more fun to build larger structures, if 1/4 of my structure didnt reset at least once every 24 hours. Honestly, my best hope was that maybe microsoft or a better supplier would step in to pick up the game, but I can totally see them not wanting to because of any legal hassle or issues with publishing a new game with a similar name.

Still hoping the game survives and an update happens soon, at least just to the errors.

My gut tells me that what is more likely to happen is once the new publisher has all of the details ironed out, it will most likely be a new port on the next gen console.

Hopefully what happened with TTGs port will be a good lessons learned for all interested parties in the future. The best case scenario imo is wait for the game to go gold before attempting another port.

Yeah and no. I mean games get released all the time not finished and such. Look at DayZ last I played it a few weeks ago on console was a mess. On PC runs pretty good. It just really depends. In this case though console wasn't never meant to be on par with PC. From my understanding is that TT seen a game good enough to call if finished. They then said they would try to match PC as close as they can but no guarantee. The only problem with that is they just took an alpha part they said was finished and pretty much copy and paste it. They didn't take time to work out bugs and glitches. Guess they thought they could be like every other game that comes out and work on those as they went. But then they got cought up trying to add more from the PC that made more bugs. Idk it isn't about releasing games but how it is handled when they do.
