    Is Valmod no longer working?

I suck bigtime at getting mods to work on any game. But Valmod seems so straight forward, yet I still can't get it to work.

I don't see it on the mod list thread that's in the Mod forum.

If it is still kept up to date, the problem is all me lol

I think Valmar (creator of Valmod) stopped modding and updating, at least for now. As far as I know, many modders stopped modding because they want the game to be released in it's "gold" state and then many modders will come back.

Ok thanks for the quick reply.

Could that most likely be why I cannot get it to work? Just doesn't go with 17.2?

There are tons of modlets out there now. They are so easy to add. Create "Mods" folder and copy the modlet folder into it...done (for the xml only ones anyway ) There is more than likely one or more out there that you would enjoy.

You posted just before I did. Not sure how many of them would work with 17.2 but you could always try them. If they don't work it is just a matter of deleting the modlet folder (again for the xml only ones)

As mentioned not sure which if any would still work with 17.2 but you could try them. Each person has their own playstyle so you may be better off going to the mod section and browsing through them to see what tickles your fancy.

To be honest, the only thing missing in the game(for me at least) are npcs and bandits, so any mods like the one below are totally great for me. https://7daystodie.com/forums/showth...2-NPCs-SDX-Mod, but, like Gamida said, just go in the modding section and see what you like.

That newly created "Mods" folder is placed in the "7 days to Die" main game folder?

I know holding someone's hand (especially when the PC dumb) can be annoying as hell. So I wont get that going today. heh

haha, when I went to that link, I just looked at and said, "this is even too complicated". Thanks guys. I'll just wait for next update. I have 600+ hours and I'm definitely ready for a change with mod fun. lol

What kinds of changes are you interested in? If you want some simple changes like stacks, that is super easy. Some of the modlets are just drag and drop as I mentioned above. It took me a little while to get into it too but I found it worth it. I just recently mad a mod myself because I wanted more storage crates with names on them. If you ever want to try some different mods I am sure there is no shortage of people here who can help (me too in my own little way lol).

Lol Eliphas the Inheritor, I think you scared Senneth off with that post.
Senneth, adding a modlet is not nearly so complicated as that. If I can learn so can you. Mostly it is drag and drop.

Thanks a ton Gamida. Appreciate that offer.

To make it easier, I'm going to figure a simple, not a wall of text, way to post what I'm doing and how I'm going about installing these. Embarrassing though, because I know it should be as easy as - download mod - unzip - grab saved and data file -and dump it into 7 days to Die file. And let it overwrite files if it asked.

Going to give it another go now.

Well, just ask. I am not above paying it forward for all the times someone has helped me. If I know how to do it I can let you know. If not someone else pretty much will be able to. Maybe you can start with a simple one and add more as you get comfortable.

As far as I'm aware, Valmar was waiting for a17 to be "stable" before continuing to work on it. a18 is now just around the corner though. I wanted to pick up the project and convert it into a modlet pack for a17, but have almost zero free time to work on it.

If you need a tutorial just ask. There are 2 types of mods, xml based mods which are just "drag and drop in your config folder and overwrite the current ones" and SDX mods which may seem a bit complicated but they are really not.

All you need to do is download the SDX tool, and after you open the SDX Tools, you have to select the the 7 days game location so it can detect your game, after that you press a button named "build" and let it do it's thing.

After that you close the program, download whatever SDX mods you want and put it in the mod folder. You open the sdx tool again, you select the mods that you downloaded (they are going to be visible in the program as a list), you press the BUILD button again and that's it. If you need a video or a step-by-step tutorial just let us know, I'll be glad to teach you how to do it with baby steps. After the first use you'll get the hang of it.

Well, you should really talk to Valmar if you can about making a CHS (classic horde survival) mod again, that was great, but the last version of that mod was for Alpha 14.7 which I can't find again because the mod site wasn't working....or make one yourself.

Edit: I actually found CHS mod for A16, which is weird, don't know how I missed it, and the download button seems to work, I'll let you know if it works in the game with no problems.

Edit 2: CHS mod has errors...doesn't work with 16.4 version but it works with A15.2 version, despite the thread being named "A16 classic horde survival".
