Need some solid info on the resurection of telltale

I've heard rumors and such and have not been able to confirm that the rights were bought anonymously.
It's been announced that telltale is being revived and they have plans for some of the catalog and are going to sell others.
I assume they are the buyer, but do we have any info on if the game will be continued through LCG entertainment holdings, or resold again?

Seriously. there's a lot of people peeing themselves right now.

That's what I see, I failed to check the other very large thread that's been on fire today. I did however, reach out for comment to LCG.

Sherwood Partners have confirmed the console code for 7 days to die was sold. If you don’t believe me then google Sherwood Partners and call them. You will have to leave a few messages but someone will call you back and confirm they sold the console code during the assignment for TellTale games.

Unless TFP give the new owner rights to update the game, nothing is going to happen. The TellTale Games update in news and announcements said TFP cancelled the rights to TellTale Games for updates and sequels. So unless TFP allow it nothing can happen.

The link from the other Thread talking about the company that is starting up and has some of Tell Tale Games assets said they were going to work with TTG’s IP. Intellectual Property like their waking dead series. TFP own the IP for 7 days to die.

I dont think it makes business sense to buy the rights to a game, pay someone to update it, and then pass that update on for free.

I do agree, would be nice to hear something. Unfortunately you are only going to hear they cant talk about it, because of legal reasons.

    That's a ton of assuming.
you're also wrong. "I dont think it makes business sense to buy the rights to a game, pay someone to update it, and then pass that update on for free. "

    - they make money by selling copies of the game, with the current update after working with all parties involved. 7 Days is a very valuable title. It makes total business sense to drop a huge update to the game and push sales to people who haven't bought it over the last year or so, because its stagnant.

-of course they sold the rights to sell and publish the game in it's current form. that's how liquidations work after shutting down, that was without question. Creditors have to get paid.

-I also think you think TFP have power over the publishing rights on console. That's not how publishing contracts work, at all. It would be downright stupid for them not to work with whoever owns the publishing rights. The code you speak of, is the fun pimps property, not telltales. They hold the publishing rights, so someone telling you they sold code to someone is a little off.

-hoping for the best, they sell the publishing rights and the fun pimps can scoop it up and hold onto it until they can do something amazing with the current version. it needs tons of work. If not, at least console people will have some hope of a current century update

-You're saying I won't get info because "legal reasons" but yet, the company that played the middleman just told some random fan details of the sale for which they probably have a NDA on. You're right, I probably will get a no comment, but that's exactly what I would expect out of the company playing middle man as well. Having a email reply stating that is solid evidence.

Objection, your honor. The code pieces that are specific to the console version, i.e. all the code that Iron Galaxy wrote, was fully payed by Telltale (so far as we know). It stands to reason that that code, while totally useless on its own, was still property of Telltale when they tanked and part of the assets auctioned off.

Yep. It's the console assets Telltale hung onto that went up for auction. TFP can't continue the console without those.

exactly why it would be stupid for them not to work with said company, or buy the rights back when they go up for sale.

You guys speak of this auction, but the articles state that it was a six month bargaining process to purchase the assets, that's far from an auction?
If this is true about the coding which is basically just a recode of the original code to adapt it to console, which uses the same engine, I wouldn't mind seeing some concerete proof of that, instead of someone just saying it. Is there a post where one of the fun pimps specifically state that its not the publishing rights, its the code being hung onto? because stuff can be recoded and thats a zero barrier to republishing the game.
the only legal barrier to publishing the game at this point, is the rights to publish.

Technically, they can, in all means, they simply take the og version of the game, and apply the most current update as a fresh one, instead of piling on the abs garbage that iron galaxy pumped out.
(no offense but the patch process was trash, why would you port over bugs that are fixed than fix them after, just port over once)

I'm simply relaying from discussions with the people on my discord possible why/how ect. including people involved in the different industries and their viewpoints. there's a lot of questions to be had, esp with the articles wording.

Based on my dealings with marketing folks, there wont be any customer facing news unless there are concrete plans to release something new. (I.e. 7 days to die 2 for console).

Now will 7d2d2 be equivalent to A18 or will it be the PC version that goes gold. 😎

If it was me, I'd snag the latest from TFPs and port that versus trying to make heads or tails of the hot mess TT/IG Frankensteined together. 😅

Interesting, and potentially promising - maybe. With this out in the news it's possible that we'll get an official announcement on 78Dtd in the not-to-distant future....

    Response I received from Telltale.

I feel the response has a very positive outlook myself. Instead of just getting a no comment return, I got a really nice reply.

    copied and pasted.
"I'm so sorry for the delay in my response, but we were a bit overwhelmed on Wednesday, and have been traveling/participating in back-to-back tradeshows.

We are not in a position to comment further about any games/IPs that were not mentioned in the initial press release (ongoing legal negotiations, partnerships, etc). There will be some news from our publishing partners in the coming weeks, but we promise to announce more information as we can. However, I will pass along your hopes/sentiments regarding this title and will add you to my Telltale press list for further updates.
    Best,
    Elizabeth"

Take from that what you will.

Speculation and more speculations. That is all it is goin to be until officiall word is out. I'm no exception everything I have said on the subject is my view and speculations.

TFP are not goin to say one way or the other until the legal issues are done and I think they have been pretty clear on that. If TT or this company that is getting them back up has the rights then most likely you will hear news somewhere besides the forums first. TFP are not goin to release information of what someone else is doing and it is unlikely they will come to the forums first when it is time to talk about it. At least one thing is clear they also can't talk about anything because of legal matters.

I can't say one way or another because I have no clue but can't someone ask to show them proof that it doesn't say that anywhere? I mean it does go both ways so not sure who is right or who is wrong but glad someone thinks they are better and right.

From the new Tell Tale Games website. Under the press release.

Where do I find 7 Days to Die?

    https://7daystodie.com/
note: We do not currently have any rights to sell, distribute, or support 7 Days to Die.

I would agree it is remotely possible they are working with TFP on this, but I am still sticking with 8-2-2019. It's over.
