Which means that it was someone else who bought the rights during the Old Telltale auction.
It may have been the TFP who are now trying to find a new Publisher/Developer. Then again, it might not have been.

They haven't had any rights to it since April when it was sold at auction. The new TellTale is not the same company at all as the old. The only thing it shares is the name.

I wonder who bought the rights.

The new Telltale is other companies who picked the corpse of TT while keeping the name.
What that means in the long run for notable TT IPs like TWD? I have no idea. But that really is why no one wants to make any firm statements on anything. Until any project is solidly underway there is no way to tell what is going to happen and what isn't.
(and I'm speaking in general here, not for TFP. Same reason. LOL)
TFP can only make the best game they can, one problem at a time. Anything beyond that... is way more complicated.

Yeah no doubt, I cannot imagine what they have to go through, legality etc. its got to be complicated. I've always understood why they have not made any statements regarding all this in a long time. So many out there seem to not understand how complicated things like this are.
