    Never hunt with shotguns.

I have tried hunting with a shotgun and it proved more trouble than it was worth.
The problem is that it both kills and destroys the carcass. Less carcass, less meat and other things that could have been harvested.
I almost destroyed a rabbit. There was hardly anything left to harvest and that is with only one shot.

I shot a vulture with it and I thought that I missed because it was still coming at me. So I shot again. The whole bird simply disintegrated and there was nothing left to harvest. lol

On the other hand, they are great for clearing lite objects out of your path and knocking down (if not killing outright) groups of zombies.

    Shotguns. The hand cannon.

I feel like shotguns need more spread by default. You can stand 20 blocks back from a building and almost always only hit one block when you fire. At that range it would be better if it hit more of a 2x2 area of blocks.

    Conditions:
I just went and tested both shotguns without any mods as well as with applicable mods from 3 different distances and with normal shotgun ammo. I fired the shotguns once for every test I did. The maximum distance I stood was 20 blocks away.

    Results:
Only the double barral shotgun could reach 19 blocks in my test, 20 if counting the block I was standing on. Surprisingly you are 100% correct about the shotgun spread. Regardless of which shotgun you use or what mods are installed it does not spread more than 1 block, thats weird and makes no sense imo. I agree, it should have more spread or at the very least the mod (I forget the name already) that increases spread should increase spread more.

I wonder if this is by design or a possible bug. \_(ツ)_/

EDIT: *thinking* I should have fired 5 shots for each test I did instead of 1 shot in order to get a more accurate results. Still though I'll stand by this test as being accurate enough for this discussion. :/
If anyone knows this is incorrect, please correct me.

I see what you all are saying and have been looking this up. It would be cool to add a realistic spread to the shotgun. I guess we will see what TFP's want to do.

I think Gazz said the shotgun is already OP for game purposes with its spread and damage. Sorry if I'm mis-quoting you, Gazz.

In real life there are more veriables than just "buckshot" when it comes to spread. So to say "buckshot" alone is the reason why it is the way it is in this game would be false. IRL here are some examples of what must be taken in to account. Barral length, type of ammo, brand of ammo, etc. This is a game and not real life.

I like the way the new IronClub is made, technically.
But i wouldn't want to have something like this in the game, just because it doesn't fit and looks unwisely...
Yes, it looks cool, in isolation from the game.
More and more often there is a tendency to hypertrophy, this is the lot of teenagers. Sorry, i have already passed this age.

I also don't understand what a new StoneAxe is better than the old one?
Why was it necessary to alter the model? because of the PBR? couldn't just change the textures?

And why does everyone think that if you don't like something new - it's because of a habituation?
And there are no other reasons?

    How to mess with vultures.

Your riding down the road in one of the warmer biomes and suddenly you got a vulture on you butt. You speed up and sometimes it hangs with you like telemarketers. You end up having to dismount to deal with it. Sometimes if you keep going, you get several of them like something out of Alfred Hitchcock the birds.
    It can be a pain.
But that's what survival is all about...

You can try and outrun it but on open ground it's hard but it can be done.
It's best to find some cover, like a tree. Biking around a tree can be hard at first but funny to watch.
Zigzagging through a forest is even better.
But the best thing is going under a roof or something and watching them get stuck.
Sometimes if you can time it right, you can get them to strike you and to just ride out of the way. They bust there heads on the ground and the give out a yell while they are stunned. Giving you the chance to get away.

But then you may want to kill a flock of birds for harvesting and experience. So you weave around trees, gathering the biggest flock you can. Then dismount and kill them.
I find that the knife is best for this for two reasons.
First, the knife has the quickest melee attack rate. Great for fast moving targets.
Second, it can be used to harvest them after you kill them.

But again, watching them get stuck in a roof is really enjoyable.

When I'm out looking to buy a game the very last thing I look at is the art or graphics of a game. If that was the case, I never would have bought 7D2D during A8 or so.

I strongely agree with JaxTeller718 on this one, art is not going to keep this game selling for years.

Note this is just my opinion as I have never researched the science and statistics behind what sells and or keeps a game selling nor have I sat down and had extensive conversations with anyone who would have knowledge of this.
If I had to guess, the main demographics for video games are teens and young adults. So although some people (including myself) dont value graphics above all, it is still a big factor in the video game market.

What they are doing is a good business decision.

I think you are projecting your feelings onto others. You may consider art childish but not everyone perceives life the same way. Not everyone perceives as you do.
