The launcher that was built for the mod and available in the second post will install everything you need for a dedicated server. You just have to point it to the dedicated server install. If you need more descriptive instructions pm me.

Hey, really enjoying starvation mod so far. I've noticed that the radiation reaches underground. Is this intentional and how do I turn it off? I edited the biomes.xml already but it doesn't work.

Also noticed that digging up my own non-tomato plants gives me tomato seeds.

Hey, you use Mortar and Pestal to make flour. Just place it, then take some wheat, aim cursor at Mortar and pestel and press left click.

Hi, radiation doesnt "reach" you actually. Once you stepped over irradiated terrain - you become irradiated too. The only way to cure it is special iodine pills, made from iodine ore, which could be rarely found under the snow biome. Another way that helps partially is just die lol

About tomato seeds, yes, its known issue, will be fixed in next release.

If i didn't break that command in the last update, and If you have administrative rights, type "/toggleChatMod" in chat and you will enable / disable the chat mod (radio and stuff). This will persist, saved in a file in save directory (starvation folder).

Install 7 Days to Die dedicated server with Starvation mod on Ubuntu + Server Fixes

    Part 1/2

How to install 7 Days to Die dedicated server with Starvation mod on Ubuntu (including Alloc server fixes and web map)

    References
    1. 7 Days to Die - Linux Server Management scripts and the Server fixes - https://7dtd.illy.bz/wiki
    2. Starvation forum thread: https://7daystodie.com/forums/showth...ON-by-SDX-team

    Prerequisites for local Windows PC:
    1. Download and install on your local Windows PC WinSCP - https://winscp.net/eng/download.php

    Before we begin:
    - This guide will use the following Ubuntu user: sdtd
    - The server will be installed in the home folder of user sdtd -
    - The install will be somewhat different from the standard one (the one without Alloc's server fixes)
    - (Obviously) You need full ssh access (root) to an Ubuntu server. (Personally I am using https://www.scaleway.com/ - the 9.99 EUR/month VPS Starter Cloud Server)
    - This guide will assume that the following paths will be used. You can use different ones but obviously you have to adapt some commands and settings (not recommended).

    /home/sdtd
home for the user running the server and base path for the server management script system
    /home/sdtd/backup
by default backups of game data files will go here
    /usr/local/bin/7dtd.sh
    Management script entry point
    /usr/local/lib/7dtd/
    Base path of script components
    /etc/7dtd.conf
    Global configuration options
    /etc/bash_completion.d/7dtd
Bash-completion configuration to auto-complete the commands for the scripts
    /etc/cron.d/7dtd-backup
    Cron job for game backups
    /etc/init.d/7dtd.sh
Init script to start/stop the instances on host boot/shutdown
    Installing prerequisites:

Log in to your server with SSH. You will need to edit server config files. The easiest way to do this is to use text editor on the server.
As a command line editor let's install nano (if it's not already installed) - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Nano (quick shortcuts: CTRL+o = save, CTRL+x = exit)
Otherwise just use whatever editor suits you.

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install nano
If you're not root, or under a superuser, make sure to preface the aptitude commands with "sudo".

    Code:
    apt-get install xmlstarlet
    apt-get install lib32gcc1
    apt-get install lib32stdc++6
Step 2 - Installing the server and Alloc server fixes using the automated script:

    1. Login via SSH to the server using your own user.
    2. Run
    Code:
    wget http://svn.illy.bz/7dtd/bootstrapper/bootstrap.sh
    chmod +x bootstrap.sh
    sudo ./bootstrap.sh -i
    output:
    [email protected]:~$ sudo ./bootstrap.sh -i

    ALL DONE
You can now continue setting up instances as explained on the website:
    https://7dtd.illy.bz/wiki/Instance%20management
You might also need to manually enable bash auto completion, refer to:
    https://7dtd.illy.bz/wiki/Installation#Bashcompletion
    For further configuration options check:
    /etc/7dtd.conf
For feedback, suggestions, problems please visit the bugtracker:
    https://7dtd.illy.bz/

At this point the vanilla server and 7 Days to Die - Linux Server Management scripts and the Server fixes are installed.
Make sure you change the password for your 7 Days to Die user (sdtd) - from now on you'll be doing everything while logged in with that user.

    Code:
    [email protected]:~$ sudo passwd sdtd
    Enter new UNIX password:
    Retype new UNIX password:
    passwd: password updated successfully
Add your user to the sudoers group

under your user (not sdtd) or root
    Code:
    sudo nano /etc/sudoers
    Find the below section:

    # Allow members of group sudo to execute any command
    %sudo ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL
and add the below line, save and exit.

    sdtd ALL=(ALL) ALL
Close the current SSH connection to the server, open a new one and login whit user sdtd and the password you've set at the previous step.
You'll need now to create the instance(s). What instances are ? It's an easy way to maintain and run different servers with different settings and mods. Basically the game is split into 2 - the engine that mostly remains the same between different instances and the config files and server settings that are specific for each instance. Unfortunately installing Starvation mod will alter both of them so you wont be able say to have an instance with vanilla game and another instance with Starvation mod.
With the instance management you can create a new server instance, edit existing instances or delete them. You can also list all defined instances and show the status of a single instance.
Creating an instance optionally makes use of template files. Currently those are:

    admins.xml
    config.xml
Those have to be in a folder called templates below SDTD_BASE. (in this tutorial ~/templates/ which is the same as /home/sdtd/templates/)

If a config.xml exists in this location the create-part of instance management will ask whether this should be used as a base for the new instance config.
If the admins.xml exists it is automatically copied over to new instances.

Install 7 Days to Die dedicated server with Starvation mod on Ubuntu + Server Fixes 2

    Part 2/2

When you finished the vanilla server installation through the automatic script the templates folder will only have the admins.xml template. Make sure you are adding all your server admins in this file by using their ID. If you're not familiar with this you can look it up on google.

On your local Windows PC install:
    1. Vanilla version of 7 Days to Die
    2. Vanilla version of the 7 Days to Die Dedicated Server

Once both are installed, open the serverconfig.xml (located under \steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\) and edit your server settings as you please. Once done save the changes.
Start WinSCP and connect to your Ubuntu dedicated server using user sdtd and the password you've set. Remember to set the file protocol to SFTP and use port 22 and the IP address of your server.

Copy your local \steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\serverconfig.xml to the Ubuntu server under: /home/sdtd/templates/ and rename it to config.xml You can also rename it locally and the upload it to the server.

    Optional - enable bash auto-completion: - https://7dtd.illy.bz/wiki/Installation#BashCompletion

You are now ready to create your Starvation instance.

Create the instance - remember that if you have done the step with the config.xml the create instance script will read it and use that. All the default settings (read from config.xml) will be suggested within square brackets and if you want to use them a simple Enter will be enough. If you want a different value write it when prompted and press Enter. Remember to make sure you set the easy anti cheat to false. This is mandatory for StarvationMod

    Code:
[email protected]:~$ sudo 7dtd.sh instances create
    [sudo] password for sdtd:
    Instance name: MyStarvationMod

Once downloaded, unpack the archive to your server folder so you get a Mods folder in the server root folder. When done it should look like this

    Code:
    [email protected]:~/engine/Mods$ pwd

    drwxrwxr-x 3 sdtd sdtd 4096 Dec 14 18:47 Allocs_WebAndMapRendering

    Installing the Starvation Mod:

There is no direct or easy way to install Starvation Mod on Ubuntu. You will need you local PC again (if you followed this guide you should already have the vanilla game and vanilla server installed)

On your local PC you need to do 2 things:
    1. Install Starvation on top of your game
    2. Install Starvation on top of your local Dedicated Server.

You can do this by following the install instructions from this forum post: https://7daystodie.com/forums/showth...l=1#post495891

Just don't forget that you need to separate Launcher copies - one for client and one for server.

Once you have Starvation Mod installed on both your client and your local server go to the local server installation and copy from your local windows server the following files to the corresponding Ubuntu server (overwrite if asked):

c:\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\7DaysToDieServer_Data\Managed\Mods.dll
\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\7DaysToDieServer_Data\Managed\Mods.pdb
\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\7DaysToDieServer_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll
\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\7DaysToDieServer_Data\Managed\SDX.Core.dll
\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\7DaysToDieServer_Data\Managed\SDX.Payload.d ll
\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\7DaysToDieServer_Data\Managed\settings.ini
    to
    /home/sdtd/engine/7DaysToDieServer_Data/Managed
Upload the folder “Mods” from your local server to your Ubuntu server in the root folder of the game (/home/sdtd/engine/)
Upload your \steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\Data\Config folder to the Ubuntu server (in /home/sdtd/engine/Data/Config) and overwrite the files when prompted.
Upload the whole local folder steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\sdx to Ubuntu server in /home/sdtd/engine
    Edit your settings.ini file
    Code:
    sudo nano /home/sdtd/engine/7DaysToDieServer_Data/Managed/settings.ini
So that it looks like this (remember this is if you use the paths and user I've used in this tutorial)

    [Main]
    TargetDir = /home/sdtd/engine/sdx/Targets/7DaysToDie
    TargetName=7 Days To Die
One very important step at this stage is to modify the below file.
    Code:
    sudo nano /usr/local/lib/7dtd/commands/start.sh
Locate the line with OPTS=" ..... and add to it the -sdxconfig parameter such that it looks like below:
    OPTS="-logfile $LOG -nographics -configfile=$(getInstancePath $1)/config.xml -sdxconfig=/home/sdtd/engine/7DaysToDieServer_Data/Managed/settings.ini"
You're ready to start your server now.
    Run the below command:
    Code:
    sudo 7dtd.sh start MyStarvationMod
In order to monitor the resources utilization you can use a neat utility.
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install htop
    then issue
    Code:
    htop
    That's it. Hope this helps

For some reason the launcher does not start on my system, all I get is "event 1000" error in event viewer (log files).
Using 64b Win10 and nothing special, this is only my gaming rig, not used for anything else...

    Any ideas?
Anyway to manually download the mod? I prefer that way...

    1. Yes, a bug. We should have removed that from the description... Flu is quite easy to cure, either by resting a bit(campfire grants you a increased cure chance while resting, at the cost of increasing your temp... "sweat it out" my gran used to say ), or taking some antibiotics... Also eating fish, will actually grant you immunity to it for a good while.

    2. If you dig dirt, earthworms will drop no matter the tool. They are relatively common, so you shouldn't have much problems finding some.

I take the opportunity to mention survivors UI and radio tower. Please be patient, we'll fix them asap. Work is getting in the way of modding this week
