Alpha 16.3 Experimental B3 Bug Report Thread

    Hey Survivalist,
We’ve just released Alpha 16.3 Experimental B3 and could really use your help finding the last remaining big issues. As always TFP is interested in all constructive criticism and feedback, but what we're really looking for in this thread are the following:
    • Show stopping game play bugs (Hopefully with reproduction steps)
    • Crashes (Try and get reproduction steps and post your output_log.txt files - usually found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\7 Days To Die\7DaysToDie_Data\output_log.txt - directly in your forum post. Note: You will find all output_logs time stamped there, even from old games. You can also attach your zipped up crash dump file too.)
    • Chunk Generation Bugs. People please give us the coordinates of where they were in the world when they run into a chunk generation error plus the game seed. Copy and pasting the error alone and the output log is not sufficient to help with a fix.

Additionally, you can post balance and feedback in the current Dev diary.
We don’t want incompatibility bugs with previous builds so please remember to start a new game with each experimental update.

Here's how to opt in and play the latest experimental branch.

    Open your steam client.
    1. Click on Games/View Games Library
    2. Right click ‘7 Days to Die’ and select properties
    3. From the new popup dialogue box select the ‘BETAS’ Tab
    4. Under ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into’ latest_experimental

The game will then update and download the latest experimental build Alpha 16.2 Experimental

Switching back to the latest main stable build is as easy as repeating steps 1-4 and on step 4 choose the option ‘None – Opt out of all Beta Programs’ and you’ll revert to the latest stable build.

    Cheers Richard

    Important!

This build added debug information for savegames that freeze at "Creating player", please provide us with outputlogs and savegames for a quick fix and easy way to test the fix.

    Fixes:
    • Vultures can fly under water
    • Sleeper zombies have a chance to rotate when they wake up
    • Bears and wolves walk on water
    • Shotgun turret goes out of sync
    • Zombies rotate on ground again
    • all inside wedge corners when placed beside each other delete adjoing block face and can shoot thru
    • Lowered radius of dart trap firing sounds
    • All solid Wedge Inclines placed together front to back renders back side invisible

    Known Issues

    • On-screen keyboard is only available if you start the game from Steam’s Big Picture Mode
    • Smell is not working with the new stealth we will revisit it in a17
    • GlobalUV support inhibits anisotropic filtering and it has to be calculated in the shader.
    • Sleeper spawning issues continue
    • Farming of crops other than yucca and hops affects performance
    • Precipitation and cold temp going through windows, glass blocks, doors, and hatches
    • Excessive use of trigger plates may cause servers to lag during hordes.
    • Creating Player hang issue
    • Player deaths causing them to desync and become invisible
    • Gore block dupe
    • Turrets don't have firing sounds (fixed in b4 already)

As of 16.2 (could not afford to start a fresh game just for a few changes of 16.3), the secret stash bug persists. The first time I go to a trader I can expect around 4 pages in the secret stash, full of gun parts, battery bank schematics and even solar banks/cells (with a secret stash 3/3). After one restock, the secret stash then only has a page and a half's worth of goods, thus no solar banks/cells. This makes it close to impossible to buy new solar cells since restocks seem to nullify the possibility of there being any "good stuff".

I doubt that me not starting fresh is the problem as nothing was mentioned of the devs' knowledge about this bug.

    Uuuu how exciting. :3

    BUG

A small minor bug is with Zombie Bears.

When far (50 meters+) Zombie Bears are textured like normal Bears, until you come close enough.. when their distant rendering changes to their close proximity rendering, it shows the true type of Bear.

In short, Zombie Bear does not have a distant rendering model, showing incorrect Bear type from afar.

On Linux I'm getting an immediate crash to desktop on loading (before i get to the menu... while The Fun Pimps logo is still expanding). This did not happen for me in the previous experimental build.

EDIT: Went to 16.2 stable and it loads just fine. Back to 16.3b3 experimental and it crashes nearly instantly again, though I did have once that got further into the expanding logo.

EDIT2: Turning off EAC allows me to play. And the last line in the log files is EAC loading, so perhaps this makes sense.

Guys, I know you probably know this and are trying to fix it, but for me and some of my friends, the most important bug in the list is the one with farming. Whole server is rendered useless when someone starts farming in base.

Anyhow, on a much happier note, this game is awesome! It's the best game I've ever played!

Chests disappear / become unlootable with hatches below

    BUG

still from 16.2 but haven't seen it reported yet so I assume it remains in 16.3 exp:

If you place a hatch below a chest - the chest becomes non-responsive.

If you place a workbench below chests, the chests sometimes disappear (happened at least twice to me)

    Important note about new version

TFP STATED a clean install is necessary to avoid a conflict with the current fixes. I used 7d2d launch to clean my old files. The old practice of just using the unstall/deleting old install doesn't work as it did in previous versions there seems to be files that op in to Exp build reset do not purge.
Was having a unrecoverable crash at several points in the menu screen before taking this step at start of 16. Crash required a hard boot most of the time.
All seems to be in order after using the launchers built-in wipe tool. I checked all the wipe boxes and have had no further issues.

Summary: (View seems to stutter while moving. Like it has a low frame rate.
    Version:
    Platform: (PC)
    OS/Version: Windows 10
    Game mode, SP

Did you wipe old saves? (No)
Did you start a new save? (Yes)
Did you validate your files? (Yes)
Are you using any mods? (No)

    Status: NEW

    Bug Description:

    Reproduce steps:
Seed name= No seed. Navezgane map
    Co ords= What is this?

    1)
    2)
    3)

Actual result: Started a brand new game. Landed in the snow biome (again). Wind blowing, picking up snow dust. Everything seemed normal until I started to walk forward. FLS is averaging 57 frames per second. But it is acting like it is playing at around 20 or so. Almost like watching a film being played on a film. projector. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...ctor&FORM=IGRE

Only it hurts my eyes every time I try to walk forward. I have not messed with any of my video or audio settings before the possess of uninstalling and reinstalling the experimental version. So I am very sure that it is due to the game.

    Expected result: (Normal smooth movement)

I turned motion blur off as it seems to have become wonky. Iron sights were super wonky with it on.

Summary: Literal line of sight zombie spawn
    Version: 16.2
    Platform: (PC)
    OS/Version: Windows 10
    Game mode, SP

Did you wipe old saves? (Yes)
Did you start a new save? (Yes)
Did you validate your files? (Yes)
Are you using any mods? (No)

Status: NEW? Maybe I remember grumbles about the current spawn system

    Bug Description:
Zombie spawned literally in front of me with many more re spawning around too

    Reproduce steps:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOLSvswVZks&t=40

    Desired result:
Some form of spawn protection in an area around me so this is literally impossible till you fix it. I can almost put up with the zombies re-spawning in other parts of the house you cleared 5s ago but walked away from, but this is just unfair and irritating.

With 16.3 b1 and b3, I started experiencing mouse driver crashes (and only in 7dtd). I use a wireless mouse, although it's PNP and uses the default Windows 10 drivers, which are up to date (verified). It happened at unpredictable intervals, I can't say what might be causing it, no particular activity repeated. Previous builds, never an issue.

I noticed this too. Wasn't sure if it was my eyes or the bear was changing when I got close.

    Seed name= 16.3b3-1
    Co ords=N/A

    1) Create a game. Quit game. load game. Fine.
    2) Quit game. Return next day (after PC has been turned off). Load game.
    3)

Actual result: (Stuck at Creating Player.)

    Expected result: (Game loaded.)

[Attach bug screenshot and output log if any]

Hopefully I have attached 2 log files. One is the log file when it loaded normally, the other is the very next log file when it didn't load normally.

I have experienced this problem with previous versions of Alpha 16.
I have found it to be intermittent and I have not noticed a pattern.

I tend to play with settings making the game easier. ( A LOT easier lol)
