    Advice on how to shorten nights on dedicated server

    Hey guys,

    We have a dedicated server and would like to shorten the night time.

    We adjusted the day night length from 18 to 16 as we thought this would shorten the whole day and night cycle, meaning less time to build fortifications making the game a bit tougher.

    We also adjusted the day/night option in the server from 50 to 40 but this didn't seem to shorten the night in fact it seemed to move the times that it was dark. It went from getting dark at 10pm to 12pm and becoming light at 6am not 4am.

    Just wondering if anyone what settings to change or what to change them to.

    Please don't bother advising things we could do at night or what you do, we've all played for a long time and just want the night time shorter so when we've done all our crafting or don't feel like mining or looting we can have a quicker night.

    You did the opposite of what you wanted to do. By Default you get 18 hours of daylight, you want to increase that to lessen the time of night. Instead of going from 18 to 16 you should have went from 18 to 20, giving only 4 in game hours worth of night. You could just go back to default settings and turn off zombies run at night...

    DayLightLength is the setting you want. The higher the number, the more daylight. It's the number of hours in a 24-hour cycle. So if you set it to 16, you would have night from 2200 hours to 0400 hours.

    The DayNightLength setting is how many real life minutes one game day is.

    Someone - some where mentioned that 180 for:
    <property name="DayNightLength" value="180" /> <!-- real time minutes per in game day: 50 minutes -->
    Was the max, if you go over that then you get errors and other issues.

    Haven't messed with:
    <property name="DayLightLength" value="18" /> <!-- in game hours the sun shines per day: 18 hours day light per day-->

    What "we've" come up with is to manually change ""DayNightLength" only on horde night. But then again I rent the dedi.

    But as Spectral Force says adjusting:
    <property name="DayLightLength" value="18" /> <!-- in game hours the sun shines per day: 18 hours day light per day-->
    To say 20 or more would shorten your nights. So now I know exactly what that does 'we' might give it a try Going to DayLightLenght = 22 should leave with a 2 hour night.
