    Alpha 17 Experimental B199 bug reporting thread

    Hey Survivalist,
    We’ve just released Alpha 17 Experimental B199 and could really use your help finding the last remaining big issues.
    If you’ve played B197 from our previous experimental post see the fixes below for more info.



    As always TFP is interested in all constructive criticism and feedback, but what we're really looking for in this thread are the following:
    • Show stopping game play bugs (Hopefully with reproduction steps)
    • Crashes (Try and get reproduction steps and post your output_log.txt files - usually found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\7 Days To Die\7DaysToDie_Data\output_log.txt - directly in your forum post. Note: You will find all output_logs time stamped there, even from old games. You can also attach your zipped up crash dump file too.)
    • Chunk Generation Bugs. People please give us the coordinates of where they were in the world when they run into a chunk generation error plus the game seed. Copy and pasting the error alone and the output log is not sufficient to help with a fix.

    Additionally, you can post balance and feedback in the current Dev diary.
    We don’t want incompatibility bugs with previous builds so please remember to start a new game with each experimental update.

    Here's how to opt in and play the latest experimental branch.

    Open your steam client.
    1. Click on Games/View Games Library
    2. Right click ‘7 Days to Die’ and select properties
    3. From the new popup dialogue box select the ‘BETAS’ Tab
    4. Under ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into’ latest_experimental

    The game will then update and download the latest experimental build Alpha 17 Experimental

    Switching back to the latest main stable build is as easy as repeating steps 1-4 and on step 4 choose the option ‘None – Opt out of all Beta Programs’ and you’ll revert to the latest stable build.

    your output log files are in C /steamLibrary/steamapps/common/7Daystodie/7daystodiedata/ you will find a list of ol logs, the last one being the most recent.

    also when taking a screen shot you can use the debug info, go into dm mode ( Type dm in the console ) Type dm to turn it off again
    Press F3, that will bring up the debug overlay, you will need to press f3 twice to close it.
    If you use the f3 feature no need for cords in the screen shot as they are in that info.

    • Repair material not refunded when repair was cancelled
    • Ammo wrongfully not returned when a weapon is modified more than once
    • Wrong ammo count being saved on weapon when placed in a container and retrieved

    • Binding F key for interact does not properly clear the F menu function and will block radial menu use

    Bug Description: Whenever I approach a building or grouping of buildings the game crashes to a white screen then to black with a loading sign for my cursor. Nothing changes until I force close the game.

    Reproduce steps: Enter game and go anywhere without issue, approach 1 house and game crashes.


    Actual result: Approaching building or town to loot and game crashes

    Expected result: Approach building or town without crashing.

    *Not sure if it is just due to this being an experimental release but I never had this problem on A16*


    EDIT 1: Currently downloading another update for the game. Will post if bug persists and will also choose another map other than Navezgane to ensure that it isn't just limited to that map.

    RESULT 1: I performed the update so that I was running b199 and was able to fly into a building and to a city. Shot a few zombies and cheated an AK into my inventory. During that point the game crashed again. I was unable to upload the log due to it being too large.

    EDIT 2: I verified integrity and dropped all graphics down to low settings. I started a new SP game and was able to get closer to a building, everything was going fine until I opened up the creative menu and the game crashed. I reloaded the save and was able to fly a few laps around the building, move items from my belt to my backpack and back. I opened up creative and threw an ak with ammo into my inventory and started shooting zombies. Killed about 10 of them in front of the building, reloading several times. A group of zombies destroyed a car and toppled a light pole, within 20M of me, with no effect on the game and no death of the zombies. I stayed in one spot for awhile and just spun the mouse to see if it was textures loading that was causing the crash. I then went to a side of the building that I had previously been to and the game froze then crashed.

    As long as I stay away from buildings it seems as though I don't crash but as soon as I do too much around a building I crash.

    It hasn't happened to anyone that I'm playing with on our server that I know of. I'm not sure if it is my system having a memory issue when the POI attempts to load or what. I started a single player game to see if it was just limited to MP and when I approached the starter house the game crashed again. I have a feeling that it is my system not able to keep up but I wanted to bring it up since I didn't have issues in A16 and was hoping that it would somehow lead to optimizing the game so that players of A16 could enjoy the great work you all did on A17.

    Bug Description: I was wearing a pair of NVGs at night with the filter activated (by pressing F key). We had another pair of NVGs in a chest and I wanted to move them to a different chest. When I shift-clicked on the pair of NVGs in the chest, I noticed that my NVG filter turned off. I then opened my inventory and found that the pair of NVGs I just transferred to my inventory from the chest were missing. The pair I was wearing were still on my face.

    Reproduce steps: I'm unable to repro due to us not having a 2nd pair of NVG

    Actual result: 2nd pair of NVGs disappeared when I shift-clicked them while in a storage chest and they disappeared (presumably overwrote the pair that I was wearing due to the new "remember slot" feature)

    Expected result: When I shift-click a pair of NVG to transfer them from a chest to my person, and if I'm already wearing a pair, the pair I'm transferring end up in my pack and not overwrite the pair I'm wearing.

    Bug Description: Feral Military Zombies will not die, put 50 vanilla shotgun shells and 300 arrows into it, did not die. 3 shot cobblestone blocks , 5 shot concrete blocks and tanked 20 iron spike traps.

    first and foremost... we are on b199 now in experimental.

    i just flew around diersville a bit flipping the "F" to turn on a light (which vehicles dont have lights yet as noted on 1st page in known issues list) and i did not have any errors or crash.

    can you repro this and submit a log file or output log with this issue? a video would be nice too if you could.

    Bug Description: Attacks still queue up if you use alternate attacks

    Reproduce steps:

    1) Left click with melee weapon
    2) Any time during the animation, right click for power swing
    3) Watch as you attack more than you wanted

    Actual result: Attacks still queue up if you use alternate attacks. The reproducing steps also work the other way around, power attack first into normal attack; same result.

    Expected result: Attacks should only occur when possible

    my few cents of bugs
    Can't list servers by fave, lock and shield
    trees planted on soil moved to top of building glitches to ground level when returning to house
    may have been fixed but occasionally item pickups have gone into the ether (disappeared)
    vultures continue to flap dead on the ground
    barbed wire mod makes me bleed about 10-20% of the time i swing a club with it on, not sure if this is a bug or a skill thing?
    sometimes game servers show double (could be a new world gen in the server type thing though)
    will keep posting as I play!

    Why did you lose the opportunity to write in chat in Russian? What is the problem? There used to be Cyrillic support.

    I have a server with a lot of players. These people are deprived of communication in their native language. How did it happen?

    In both versions (197 and 199) of this Alpha 17 on PC in random gen worlds I am getting deadly radiation zones (chunks?) near the starting point and I don't think this is desired behavior.

    I also never get a model on the character screen so its just showing the clothing i am wearing but not the player model.

    Bug Description: Various recipes use incorrect materials

    Reproduce steps:
    1.) Find bedroll crafting recipe.
    2.) Observe that it says 20 cans of acid in required materials
    3.) Test to see that this isn't just a typo, it actually does require the acid to craft
    4.) Find Stone Axe recipe
    5.) Observe that it requires 4 Raphael's treasure maps, 2 cans of acid
    6.) Check other recipes (there are a few more that are bugged as well)

    Actual result: Recipes are incorrect and require strange materials to craft
    Expected result: Recipes require the correct materials to craft.

    *Additional Note: Starting quest is unaffected, still tells you to gather correct materials, recipes are messed up though. Edit: Validating the files a second time fixed this issue, not sure why that didn't work the first time though.
