Alpha 6.1 patch is Out! 01.17.14

Howdy Survivalist,
We have an auto update for you that fixes the following common bugs that some of you may have been experiencing. We are sorry for any issues you have had with our Alpha 6 steam release and we thank you for your patience.

  • Changed balanced gas can consumption for Auger and Chainsaw. Note this is not a permanent but a temporary solution.
  • Fixed male punch animation now works
  • Fixed Improved male and female crossbow animations
  • Fixed bug where dedicated servers would not show up in the list.
  • Fixed name length cutoff adjusted to be more accurate
  • Fixed bug with score rows throwing a null error when viewing scoreboard when someone leaves/enters game.

If your still on Alpha 5 and want to try Alpha 6 here’s how you configure your Steam client to participate.

  1. Open your steam client.
  2. Click on Games/View Games Library
  3. Right click ‘7 Days to Die’ and select properties
  4. From the new popup dialogue box select the ‘BETAS’ Tab
  5. Under ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into’ – select ‘alpha_6 – Beta Testing’
  6. The game will then update and download Alpha 6
  7. Switching back to Alpha 5 is as easy as repeating steps 1-4 and on step 5 choose the option ‘None – Opt out of all Beta Programs’ and you’ll revert to Alpha 5 which will be re-downloaded and you can try Alpha 6 after it is improved.

Alpha 6 is Out! 01.15.14

What’s happening Survivalist,
I’ll tell you what’s happening the Pimps have just released Alpha 6 with many new features including: a much larger world, an awesome new metal forging system for gun and bullet crafting, a new snowy biome, 3 new snow zombies, many new locations including a ski lodge, sawmill, army camps, a ghost town and more. The build also has many user requested fixes and changes including better PVP player spawning, new key bind window with mouse support, a new server info panel and a new hold down ‘E’ vacuum item pickup function.

Here’s how you download it!
We’re using Steam’s awesome Beta feature which means users can still access and play Alpha 5 or try out the new Alpha 6! Both will be available and here’s how you configure your Steam client to participate.

  1. Open your steam client.
  2. Click on Games/View Games Library
  3. Right click ‘7 Days to Die’ and select properties
  4. From the new popup dialogue box select the ‘BETAS’ Tab
  5. Under ‘Select the beta you would like to opt into’ – select ‘alpha_6 – Beta Testing’
  6. The game will then update and download Alpha 6

Known Issues

  • When you light a pipebomb and don’t throw it, it will explode but the pipebomb is not “deleted”/removed from your inventory. If you die, all of them are dropped, including the one that exploded.
  • Players can sometimes get stuck in small vertical spaces less than 2 blocks high like on top of a cinder block or trash pile
  • Mac builds need to quit via the task manager
  • Rocket Launchers and Hunting Rifles cannot be broken down yet or crafted
  • Upgrading to Alpha 6 will sometimes cause players to lose their key bindings. If this happens go into options/controls/restore defaults and hit apply then close the game and start again to fix the problem
  • Alpha 6 has some unresolved animation issues caused from the Unity 4.3 upgrade including the cross bow animation and zoom
  • Male punch animation doesn’t play
  • Some items have only been translated to English

Alpha 6 is coming & more News! 01.05.14

Happy New Year Survivalist,
We’d like to thank everyone for making our migration to Steam and our first Holiday Sale an overwhelming success. We’ve been as high as number 4 in the Steam Top Sellers list and stayed in the top fifty consistently in our first 3 weeks and have consistently held a spot in or near the top ten since.

Even though we’ve done a lot of holiday celebration we’ve still found time to get some work done. The word on the street is that Alpha 6 is coming soon and that it will include a slick new metal forging system we hear is pretty freaking awesome! We’ve also heard rumors that the world is much bigger, has many new points of interest and a huge new snow biome to explore with several new snow zombies. Our source has confirmed these features and much, much more will be in Alpha 6! We can hardly wait.

But in the meantime check out the brand new series from team epiphany “Zombie Test Lab” where they take base defense ideas and puts them to the test against hordes of zombies on their quest to find the ultimate zombie killing setup. More Alpha 5 fixes! 12.21.13

We have an auto update for you that fixes the following common bugs that some of you may have been experiencing. We are sorry for any issues you have had with our Alpha 5 steam release and we thank you for your patience.

  •  Fixed bug that would cause the menu to not show for 5-10 minutes at startup while authorizing with steam; also fixes bug that would say a player doesn’t own a copy of the game and locks them out, when they do own it.
  • Fixed bug where players would get a blank screen when clicking start after manually typing in an IP/Port.
  • Fixed memory management on dedicated servers: now if players disconnect their memory is freed and not cached any more.
  • Known Issues: Some player hosted games still have incompatible NAT routers preventing other players from joining. A quick solution is try and let your friend host instead

Also folks we’re working on some major features for Alpha 6 which will include at least 3 of our coming next advertised screen features and many new unadvertised features, fixes and improvements.

Alpha 5 quick fix update! 12.14.13

Hey Survivalist,
We want to thank all of you have bought the game in its first day of Steam sales. We’ve and an overwhelming positive response from the community.

We are sorry for any issues you have had with our Alpha 5 Steam release. We thank you for your patience and have quick fix that should auto-update in your Steam Client for you now that includes the following fixes:

  • Fixed: Runaway console and browser join issues
  • Fixed: Input string was not in correct format console hijacking bug.
  • Fixed: Password popup screen to hold proper game information to connect to upon entering password.
  • Fixed: Game Name and Game Host max length are both now 25 characters to stop dedicated servers from having too long of a gameinfo string.
  • Known Issues: Some player hosted games still have incompatible NAT routers preventing other players from joining. A quick solution is try and let your friend host instead

Folks it’s Friday the 13th but the Pimps are not going to let a silly little superstition dampen their holiday mood. If that wasn’t enough we’ve add a new zombie crawler that sneaks up on you and can dig and get through 1 meter size holes. And lastly we’ve added a brand new “Zombies Run” menu option to set any mode to default, always run or never run for three completely different experiences. You can thank our fans for the zombies never run option it’s their comments that drove this feature.

Alpha 4 is available for consumption! 11.24.13

How goes it Survivalist,
Alpha 4 Release is out and ready for your consumption. It has a lot of small fixes and new additions but of special note the build includes a brand new block placement/rotation building tool that works in both normal and cheat modes and with the new wedge shingle recipes you guys can really start building stuff now. Before placing a block a semi-transparent preview of the block is displayed and player can rotate it using LMB or use the facing direction with applicable block types like wedges and ladders. We’ve added a new hunting knife, bone club and bone shiv weapons and recipes. We’ve fixed the problem where folks we’re unable to connect to a server when entity IDs reached a 16 bit limit and so much more!

So why don’t you head on over to our Customer Portal and login to download it. We’ve also improved our server download speeds to better handle larger numbers of users.

  • Of special note the Fun Pimps have decided on a more frequent release schedule so F.Y.I. It could take several quick releases to accomplish all coming next features.

  • Increased block damage on explosions to allow better TNT chain reactions
  • The turn speed of entities (like zombies or stag) is now dependent on their speed: the faster they move the faster they turn
  • Increased colliders for inventory slots so that horizontally there is no space any more. Vertically there is still a small gap in the bag
  • Spikes can now be placed only on a solid cube. So stacking of spikes isn’t possible

  • Fixed problem that chunk could not be saved when building a column > 190 blocks
  • Configure Controls: fixed bug that “left shift” and “right shift” were not selectable
  • Fixed problem that when placing a bedroll/bed the other block was removed without a check. This could be abused for fast mining. Also set the orientation of a bed correctly
  • Fixed problem that when running a server for a long time and the entity ids get greater than 16 bit, no player was able to connect to the server any more

Known Issues

  • Animals get knocked back quite far when hit
  • When you light a pipebomb and don’t throw it, it will explode but the pipebomb is not “deleted”/removed from your inventory. If you die, all of them are dropped, including the one that exploded.
  • Stability on Bridges are still a little weak in the middle
  • Players can sometimes get stuck in small vertical spaces less than 2 blocks high like on top of a cinder block or trash pile
  • Sometimes there are missing polygons in the world

Alpha 3 is out oh my! 11.19.13

Alpha 3 is now out and ready to download. It’s only been 10 days since Alpha 2 but Alpha 3 has a lot packed in it including: A server browser fix so it now refreshes properly, the control panel can now kick and ban users, AI improvements and fixes, lots of new recipes including a new hard metal door recipe for extended zombie defenses, loot balancing, improved water logic reducing water misuse in PVP, god mode removed to reduce mp cheating and much more.

So why don’t you head on over to our Customer Portal and login to download it. We’ve also improved our server download speeds to better handle larger numbers of users.

  • Of special note the Fun Pimps have decided on a more frequent release schedule so F.Y.I. It could take several quick releases to accomplish all coming next features.
  • Previous versions of the game will be incompatible with newer versions so we strongly recommend updating now.
